Hang onto your wallets, purses, and piggy banks, people!

PS: How about welcoming our new potted overlords too?

Insect? I actually don't get that.

Gee, lose an election and suddenly the world stops making sense. Or is it that I haven't had my coffee yet?

  2. Oh, you're fine. It's an in-joke with some other friends. I'd thought about writing instead "our new Cylon overlords," but then I thought that's too geeky! ;-)

  3. Blogfriend James Chen had thought of the insect overlord idea a while back, too:

Of course, he was referring to Nancy Pelosi!

  4. But The One was editor of the Crimson--why are you such haters?

    Well, that's good then.

And thanks for the link! But, you know, you covered that as well ...

Okay, but what should I think about them?

(That's because I have no idea who they are. I'm hoping they entered the cultural lexicon in the mid-90s to mid-00s so I can say, "Oh, I was out of the country" and sound romantically adventurous instead of stupid.)

(And you know, I seem to be ending this thread the same way I began it: clueless.)

    Indeed, it's from the mid-1990s -- 1994, to be exact! Simpsons-mania!

For an example of use in pop culture, here's just one example:

  9. Aw, MJ, are we really haters? Or just obsessed with the Simpsons? ;-)

  11. Well, The One may have only been president of the Harvard Law Review but some other One was the editor or the Daily Crimson! Or would the latter be The Two?
