Takanohana is an interesting character. After his sumo career, he moved to the US and trained for a pro football league, though he didn't make the cut.

Sumo has been dominated by foreign wrestlers for some time. Before the Mongolians, the Fijians were dominant.

I wonder if taking the argument for reform public means he tried the old-fashioned way w/o success, or if he's just a maverick.
