Nerd Journal: If I Could Be a Real-Life TV Trope ...

Oh, TV Tropes is a glorious website!  I'm thinking that, given a choice, I would want to be either this trope or this one.  Ooooh, or probably this one too -- it even comes with a lovely quote from the poetry of Dryden!  Or this, which comes with an even more awesome quote about the sage and his (let's make it "her" too!) books:
Trouble rather the tiger in his lair than the sage amongst his books. For to you kingdoms and armies are things mighty and enduring, but to him they are but toys of the moment, to be overturned by the flicking of a finger.
OH YEAH.  That's about five kinds of awesome.

Besides appealing directly to the heart of a history nerd, it indulges a not-so-secret fantasy that at any moment we unassuming nerds can leave our books and kick your butt.  Like Hermione Granger, bad@$$ bookworm extraordinaire.  You go, girl.

And, yes, all these are the fantasies of a tired nerd who's sick of the Library of Doom and endless summer research assignments that involve a gazillion footnotes of bibliography of articles that are written in Nerdish.  Ugh!  She really just wants to hop into the TARDIS in the company of an
adorkable Time Lord and go do a little intergalactic butt-kicking.  Is that so much to ask?  It's SUMMER, for crying out loud.  Nerds just wanna have fun!  The fall semester will start all too soon -- I am *SO* dreading that.

What about you?  Any tropes tickle your fancy?

(I do have an uncomfortable feeling, though, if if I did end up with an actual TV trope, I'd wind up with
this or this or -- alas -- this.  And do I actually own a qipao?  Why, yes, actually, several.)
