White people ask other white people about their heritage all the time. This type of conversation isn't something that only happens with minorities. And even though a person might be white, their heritage can be just as diverse as the authors.
The author clearly needs a better way to deal with what is a common question.
It does sound like she gets more attention than most people but a good comparison might be an attractive woman dealing with unwanted advances. It isn't going to stop and can either be handled humanely or by being a dick, depends on what type of person you want to be.
