"The Surprisingly Manly History of Hot Cocoa"

Drink up, boys.  Cool factoid: Hot cocoa was part of all the major expeditions to the North and South Poles.

Perhaps. But mini-marshmallows absorb all the manliness ...

Thank you for this very chocolaty lesson of history. I'll thump my chest when I have the "Virile Elixir". One of my favorite books is the Endurance- Shackleton's epic (failed) journey so I skipped to the expedition bit. I am also a World war history buff (grew up on the Commando comics) so that part was also very fascinating.

I recently did an expedition to the Ladakh, Leh region in the Himalayan range on my motorcycle and we rode to the highest motor able road (18350 feet) to Khargungla pass. It was though in Sarchu that it was very cold for someone like me who is used to the Delhi heat (no problem working outdoor at the poultry farm in 45 deg. centigrade). After reading about the expedition where one of the guys shattered most of his teeth because they chattered so hard, I felt a little less manly :)

Thanks for finding all this interesting stuff MM.
