Ace thinks the iconic Bruce Willis action flick is indeed a Christmas movie, and I'm inclined to agree! While we're at it, Iron Man 3 is set at Christmas too. Would I rather watch these movies than yet another round of It's A Wonderful Life? YOU BETCHA.
I wrote a post on It's a Wonderful Life in reaction to the financial crisis, too: http://learning-curve.blogspot.com/2009/07/mr-potter-vindicated.html
In Jamieson's article, he ponders whether George Bailey would face criminal charges over the lost deposit and says a prosecutor told him Bailey would. Civil and statutory liability seem given, but I don't know that Uncle Billy losing the deposit qualifies for criminal liability, unless involuntary loss is covered by the NY penal code.
