Japan: A Voting Landslide

Talk about interesting!

Meanwhile, this has given me political fantasies of American voters likewise tossing all the incumbent bums out of Congress and starting over.

Then again, not everyone's excited about the Japanese results.

Hmm, last time this happened the DPJ was so incompetent that the LDP was back in power w/in two years. That's one of the problems w/ being perpetually in opposition rather than ever running anything -- none of your politicians has experience actually running anything. At least, that's my take on it.

On the other hand, the DPJ is even more socialist than the LDP, and doesn't particularly like America, so we have that to look forward to as well.

That said, this has been a long time coming, and I'm not terribly surprised. The LDP has been none-too-competent since Koizumi.

How did I end up deleting my own comment? Anyway...

I think you're right about the perpetual-opposition thing. We'll see what happens next.

I do rather miss the Elvis-singing Koizumi, personally...
