Hmm, last time this happened the DPJ was so incompetent that the LDP was back in power w/in two years. That's one of the problems w/ being perpetually in opposition rather than ever running anything -- none of your politicians has experience actually running anything. At least, that's my take on it.
On the other hand, the DPJ is even more socialist than the LDP, and doesn't particularly like America, so we have that to look forward to as well.
That said, this has been a long time coming, and I'm not terribly surprised. The LDP has been none-too-competent since Koizumi.
