MM in the Kitchen: Parmesan Crusted Baked Zucchini

It's late summer -- when fresh zucchini is flooding every farmers market for miles around! I love zucchini, and they are wonderfully versatile. Here's a new recipe that I'll try this weekend maybe ... It looks easy and delicious. Plus, what a great way to eat one's vegetables.

Speaking of fried stuff, this just had me in stitches:

In her final years, she passed her days watching her favorite TV program, ''The Jerry Springer Show,'' and consuming her favorite foods: bacon, fried chicken and ice cream. She complained often, however, that the bacon served to her was too soft.

''Two days ago, when I saw her, she was talking about the fact that the bacon wasn't crisp enough, that it was soggy,'' Witt said.

From the NYT obit for Gertrude Bains, who died yesterday in her sleep at age 115, handing over the title "oldest person in the world" to Kama Chinen of (surprise!) Japan.

And btw, they're going to perform an autopsy on Mrs. Baines to find out the exact cause of her death. Crazy, if you ask me.
