Great Moments in Higher Education: Australian Educator Says English Is Too Hard For Students

Oh, this blurb from Sydney is just beyond parody:
The head of one of the nation's elite private schools has questioned whether English should be compulsory for the senior years, saying the courses being taught are beyond the intellectual ability of most students.

Is not English the official language of Australia? According to my last numbers, about 80% of the population speaks it as their first language.

Ah, can I assume that you're normally well-tuned ear for hyperbole and irony was not working today!

Australians supposedly hide behind Strine. Relax that's not real either.

Oh, sorry -- I wasn't playing my A game! ;-) I better take some supplements for my irony deficiency.
