Well, it's not as if Keira Knightley has to sing any more than Audrey Hepburn did in the original musical film version. Plus Marni Nixon is still alive and with a little audio wizardry her voice could again sing "Just you wait, 'enry 'iggins, just you wait..." while Miss Hepburn lips moved along!

I know, I know -- but I just don't think folks should mess with a CLASSIC. It's as if some fool decides he's going to remake something utterly iconic like "Casablanca."

But then again it took two tries by Hollywood before the definitive Ben Hur was filmed. At least a dozen before the John Wayne/John Ford version of Three Godfathers. Two Blue Angels, I Am Legend (The Omega Man) and how many Seven Samuraii and Rashomon have been filmed.

Plus there was a non-musical version of My Fair Lady, Pygmalion, with Leslie Howard and Dame Wendy Hiller as well as a Richard Gere and Julia Roberts version, ad infinitum. At least four retellings of The Alamo and at least a dozen remakes of any number of Raymond Chandler novels but especialy The Big Sleep, The Long Goodbye and the much remade Double Indemnity. Or the two version's of Hemingway's The Killers and how many dozens of remakes of The Old Man and the Sea as well as Of Mice and Men.

Some good, some bad. As to Casablanca being remade well, since I hated it the first time and found I like it even less, as time goes by, a remake would probably be an improvement. Besides Kiera Knightley has a much better overbite than Audrey Hepburn.
