I neglected to post this right when the unhappy event occurred, but here it is. Yes, I'm a Crichton fan. I think I shall watch "Jurassic Park" in his honor while I grade papers. State of Fear remains a giggle of a book that you should read in moments when your local Gaia-worshipping enviro-fanatics annoy you.
Golly, I'm going to miss his special brand of scientific thriller fiction. And his often piquant views on science, popular culture, and public policy (like this piece on environmentalism as a secular religion).
