Last night, the Cine-Sib went to go see "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor."
He and I had been hoping for the best, since it has those two titans of Asian cinema, Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh, and with one playing the good guy and one the bad guy, you just knew there'd be a huge kung fu fight at the end. BUT, as the Sib reported, the long-awaited fight scene was a disappointment. It was too short, he said, and it was too much in slow motion. What a downer! Instead, the Cine-Sib recommends the fight scene between another set of martial arts film stars, Jet Li and Jackie Chan, in "Forbidden Kingdom."
What about the third Mummy flick as a whole? The Cine-Sib gave his review in 3 words:
"Big dumb fun."
Hm... Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a mere 10% (uh-oh), and my favorite film critics all seem to hate it (bigger uh-oh). Even though Brendan Fraser's almost always amusing to watch in an action-comedy sort of way, maybe I'll wait until the flick's out on DVD so I don't throw away $10. I'll save my pennies for "Tropic Thunder."
PS: Brendan Fraser's first mummy flick (1999) is the best of the series. I even own it on DVD. It's just a silly, fun ride. Stick with that first one and ignore the sequels.

Sounds like Tomb of the Dragon Emperor met everyone's expectations... Brendan Frasier tries too hard to act, so you can tell he's acting
