This post is especially for La Parisienne and Alessandra -- well, and for me, too, since we all love Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. Apparently the ladies just adore sword-wielding immortal Scottish warriors. (In TV, though; the movies largely reeked - though the Cine-Sib and I do love quoting Sean Connery's riff on haggis in the first flick.)
Here's a movie rumor that the original "Highlander" flick is being rebooted, possibly with rather delicious Scottish actor Kevin McKidd as the new MacLeod. McKidd was quite good in HBO's "Rome" and the TV series "Journeyman," so I'm hopeful. Still, Englishman Sean Bean might be nice too.
(No word on Methos, though. Sorry, La Parisienne!)

Dougray Scott, too old and too dour. Sean Bean too old and his Ulster accent in Patriot's Game was bad.
Kevin McKidd makes a lot of sense, young enough to do sequels, Scottish and can smile without making one check the location of their wallet. He has worn a kilt and didn't look like an idiot though he did play Nanki-Poo which should count against him simply because to the character's name.
My vote, if I were King of the World, would be Colin Farrell. The Irish were wearing kilts before the Scots did his performance in Tigerland and In Bruges is far superior to the other faves.
Sorry, but I utterly despise Colin Farrell. Perhaps it's because my eyes are still bleeding with agony after watching his abominable "Alexander."
I really like Kevin McKidd. He's come into his own with "Rome" and the (now sadly canceled) series "Journeyman." One could scarcely recognize him from his "Trainspotting" days!
Oops, I had forgotten, which I think is a good thing, Alexander. though I did like the purely fictional Alexander and Budephaelus vs. the elephant combat. But it was an Oliver Stone film and I decided long ago to give anyone who appeared in only one of his films a break. Therefore actors such as Charlie Sheen, James Woods, Woody Harrelson and John C McGinley should hide their faces.
I like the fact that Stone must have been heavily sedated and Farrell didn't care that the color of his blond wig changed not just from scene to scene but sometimes in the scene.
So I'll split the difference and go with McKidd though another Scot with a bright red wig for part of the film is distinctly unappealing.
I don't expect Methos without Duncan. Perhaps the writers could give us a similar character for this movie. Also, I vote for McKidd. Think of the great sword fights.
The elephant jousting scene actually made people in the theater laugh out loud -- assuming they were still there, since "Alexander" was the first major movie I've seen in a cinema where people kept leaving. I stayed until the bitter end because I'd paid my ticket and I wanted, in a morbid way, to see how it ended.
And yes, you're right about Farrell's bizarre hair. Add too everyone's goofy accents throughout the film. Anyway, with Oliver Stone one expects a certain flavor of movie, but "Alexander" was just...well, awful.
But yes, McKidd + kilt + sword. Nice.
Yep, Methos is really a pal for Duncan. Sorry, Parisienne! I'm sure there will be new Immortals in the reboot, though.
And yes, I do love me some awesome swordfights.
